An Introduction and Invitation from the Visions and Goals Working Group – Presented to the NYC General Assembly on Oct 19th, 2011
Hello to the People of Occupy Wall Street! We are here to introduce and invite you to an ongoing project of the Visions and Goals working group. We see Occupy Wall Street as much greater than a protest: it is a movement that has awakened the entire nation, and now gives us a unique opportunity to revise our relationship to the world in which we live.
We come from all walks of life and come from our own campaigns and political struggles. There is an ongoing discussion, and much public inquiry, about the presentation of demands for Occupy Wall Street. We would like to clarify that we see visions and goals as a different focus than demands and tactics, though the two are interrelated. The purpose of the Visions and Goals project is to create a long-term, comprehensive vision of what we would like our future to look like, and how we can shape that future. We are here right now to invite you all to work with us on this process!
In order to be a true reflection of the movement, we want our process to involve everyone’s input. We have a draft of a document that has been worked on for almost a month, contributed to by over 200 people. We would like to open the process up even further, so that everybody can participate! If you can’t make it to these meetings, there are other ways to be involved! Other groups are working on ways to collect people’s ideas, both at Liberty Square and on the Internet. We welcome any suggestions on how to improve this collaborative process and make it accessible to as many people as possible. We would like to gather input from all other working groups, and we specially invite the input of people marginalized due to their race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, or socioeconomic level.
With each of your involvement, our group can be empowered to reach for a collective goal. How does everyone feel about that? We are opening stack right now for questions and comments.

gREETINGS eVERYONE,
In lieu of the upcoming worldwide march this Saturday, October 29, I’ve been working on creating The One Global Demand—“ABOLISH EMPIRE & ESTABLISH EARTH COMMUNITY” referred to as “The Grand Imperative.” I’ve worked on creating the single global demand because ADBUSTERS Magazine has suggested a single demand of their own—1% Robin Hood Tax on all financial global transactions, and although such issues as the disparity of taxes paid between the 99% and the 1% is an important issue, we have to ask ourselves: does this get to the root cause of our problems? If it doesn’t than are we risking short changing the movement? What if we do achieve it, what next? Do we all go home, victory achieved? Do mainstream Americans go back to living out their consumer trance lives? I realize there will be those who argue that it would be a good start and such single issue demands are inevitable, since the movement cannot stand still indefinitely, as Naomi Klein warned in her visit to OWS recently. However, we have to ask, is it as all-encompassing as “Abolishing Empire & Establishing Earth Community?” Such a global rallying call would serve as the ultimate endgame, the supreme goal that would continue to inspire and encourage the fight in this 5,000 struggle even when the smaller demands, goals and objectives are accomplished.
It is in this context and within this short time period that I hope to get all of your feedback by the next convening GA and make any revisions required if we are to move forward with this before the Saturday Global March. It would be great if the entire world could rally to such a broad global mandate that encompasses all of the social movements under one big tent within a unifying coherent framework. That would be the beginning of a great accomplishment—a profound step forward in putting this 5,000 year meta-struggle narrative into mainstream consciousness to create a profound paradigm shift that is required in order to bring about the fundamental systemic change we seek.
I’ve attached the document for everyone’s review and pasted an excerpt down below.
Thanks
Zevin X. Cruz
We, as Human Beings, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual preferences or orientation—all comprise this one living organism we call planet Earth. As such, our single overriding purpose, for the sake of all life on this planet, now and in the future, is best expressed as a Grand Imperative—“ABOLISH EMPIRE AND ESTABLISH EARTH COMMUNITY!” This is our ultimate goal—THE ONE GLOBAL DEMAND. It succinctly synthesizes what we are against and what we are for in one short, uncomplicated yet all-encompassing sentence. “Look still further upstream beyond Wall Street—even beyond the money-is-wealth illusion—and we find the yet bigger picture—a five-thousand-year history of rule and expropriation by rulers intent on securing their privilege and pampering their egos by any means,” this according to David C. Korten in his book AGENDA FOR A NEW ECONOMY: From Phantom Wealth To Real Wealth. He elaborates: “In an earlier time, rulers were kings and emperors. Now they are corporate CEOs and hedge fund managers. Wall Street is Empire’s most recent stage, and hopefully the last in this tragic drama. Five thousand years is enough. This is an epic moment. We now have the imperative and the means as a nation and a species to end the era of Empire and liberate ourselves from a needless tragedy.”1
On October 15, 2011 the global power elites took notice. However, to date, the Occupy Movement has retreated from Adbusters’ initial rallying call to come up with one simple demand. A lot of legitimate reasons for this were given but basically it comes down to one: it has become increasingly clear that every aspect of the system is problematic and that all the problems are interrelated; therefore, no single demand, (it is mistakenly thought) could encapsulate the enormity of the crisis at hand. But as I have suggested on behalf of the 99% within S3K, it is possible. We understood that the first order of business was to identify the true source of our social problems so that our future demands, plans, goals, objectives and tactics are to be strategically directed at the appropriate targets that yield the maximum impact with the greatest number of people. This was how The Grand Imperative—ABOLISH EMPIRE & ESTABLISH EARTH COMMUNITY—was developed as the suggested one global demand for the October 15 worldwide occupations. It accurately aims at the root cause of our current condition, rather than proposing symptoms-oriented-solutions. “The source of most of the economic, social, and environmental pathologies of our time—including sexism, racism, economic injustice, violence, and environmental destruction—originate upstream in institutions that grant unaccountable power and privilege to the few and assign the majority to lives of hardship and desperation,” this according to David C. Korten’s book, The Great Turning: From Empire To Earth Community. The origins of such pathological pursuits of money and power is the CULTURE of Empire, in other words, the dominant society’s mode of thought and way of life, which consist of the worldview, values and lifestyle of western industrial civilization predicated on infinite economic growth, monopoly capitalism, extreme competition, excessive individualism, survival of the fittest, materialism, exploitation, hierarchy, violence, and the imperial pursuits of domination by the power elite and wealthy ruling class through global financial institutions like the WTO, IMF and World Bank led by the Bilderberg Group, Trilateral Commission, Council On Foreign Relations and the Federal Reserve. They accomplish this through financial weapons of mass destruction, enslaving nations and individuals with debt by utilizing central banking, fiat currency, fractional reserve financing and compound interest within the monetary-market system. Although elite factions might engage in ruthless competition with one another, they generally aligned in common cause to secure the continuity of the institutions of their collective privilege, often using intermarriage as a mechanism of alliance building. If many of the patterns associated with ancient kings, pharaohs, and emperors seem strangely familiar to our own time of the democratic ideal, it is because…the dominator cultures and institutions of Empire simply morphed into new forms in the face of the democratic challenge—[today in the form of] a “constitutional plutocracy with an agenda of imperial expansion.” 3
Over the past 50 years, since the start of the sixties, there has been a cultural and spiritual awakening occurring that is now beginning to approach a critical mass, which is needed before any profound economic and political redesign of our global system could occur. This happens when a change of consciousness—a profound paradigm shift—occurs that leads to comprehensive cultural change that prepares to institute Earth Community which is: “a life-centered, egalitarian, sustainable way of ordering society based on democratic principles of partnership” through the equitable distribution of economic power—a democratic economy—that is an essential foundation of political democracy. This simple phrase: “Abolish Empire and Establish Earth Community” should be clearly understood and ingrained in each and every one us as our absolute endgame. And no other document epitomizes the values of Earth Community than the Earth Charter. “Often referred to as a people’s Declaration of Interdependence, The Earth Charter elaborates four overarching principles of Earth Community: 1) respect and care for the community of life; 2) ecological integrity; 3) social and economic justice; and 4) democracy, nonviolence, and peace,” this according to Korten. “It is also a declaration of universal responsibility to and for one another and the living Earth.” 5

Funny, some folks and I down at Occupy Portland just formed a Policy and Vision working group that sounds like pretty much the same thing. We would love to share ideas with you guys, and find out what your community outreach effort produces. We’ll be doing something to that as well, and we can share that information with you too if you want. How can we get into contact?

i am a 63 year old business man with 5 sons … i am with you and have seen this before .. ( viet nam protests ) .. my suggestion is to START democracy by POLLING WEEKLY on ISSUES … list them ..POLL them ..get ALL of the OCCUPY ZONES to poll as well … generate statistics … opinions backed with numbers … poll online ( easy free software is available ) and in person … require SOME ID ..an email ..an name … ask a few questions about the person being polled … just a few .. i like .. are you employed ? do you rent – own – or are you currently homeless .. are you a citizen …BUT mainly about the issues … we know what they are …how much ore than a worker should an owner be allowed to make ..etc /.. poll about what to poll about … make it multiple choice.. so it can be tallied .. THEN .. when you have firm opinions … ASK the politicians to STAND WITH YOU ..OR ..find new candidates sworn to do so .. ( yes they may lie … obama sort of lied .. not asbad as others ..and who knows maybe he was threatened ..) but if they wont PUBLICLY stand with your POLLED MAJORITY .. then we FIND THOSE FROM AMONG OUR OWN THAT WILL … ..i think that if you start polling and gathering data .. things will change ..in today’s world DATA has a value .. and guess what ..?? they will respect you for doing what they could not .. yes they will .. i mean the older generation too …
joseph in la – best email is joe@wigsalon.com for me … ( i set up a poll at QUESTION PRO.COM … they giv e you 10 free questions per poll ..that’s plenty …
Hi all, new to group. I have a comment on “values” v. “value” -there is a huge difference. Values are something that groups attempt to dictate to people to fall in line with their beliefs. Value, is the acceptance of the value of each and every human being, regardless of what their beliefs are, as an important and unique character of the fabric of society.
Libertarians believe in liberty, but stop short of personal liberty if it doesn’t fit the needs of corporations. This allows them to continue to supersede the rights of individuals, one of our basic rights. We need to make that distinction, that there is no greater right than that of the individual.
Let’s just put an end to the systemic dysfunction preventing representational governance.
What we are all demonstrating about is the fact that the system does not work for us. If it did, we could expect progress on the “issues”. We need reforms within the system, so our democracy can actually function. That means undoing the damage done by the neocons and right wing over the past 4 decades. If we advocate on issues, we will fragment. If we advocate building a stronger more vibrant democracy, who can argue?
The intentional undermining of our elections, and our media, is the consequent AND result of the way we (don,t) control corporations and (don’t) have policies which reflect the will of the People.
Draft resolutions which reform our Corporate Governance laws, refresh our Media, revitalize our Elections, and brings sunlight to our policy-making, and you defeat the cabal using the system against us. Do this in D.C. before the summer recess 2012 and we will become the dominant political force in America. We could control the national dialog going into the election.
If Congress refuses to grant us a more representational and democratic Republic, then they can come home at recess and hear about it from their constituents! If they agree to theses reforms, we all win big. If not, we establish our own institution to govern, like they did in S Africa, New Zealand, Norway and Tunisia, Egypt and soon, America! This way we focus only on systemic reforms. It’s much more effective and will have a long term impact on everything we care about.
An outline of this strategy is already circulating, called the People’s Congress. It may be used, copied, amended or ignored by Occupy if we like. Because PC believes in the process and goals so far identified by the Occupy, the Peoples Congress fully endorse the Occupy Movement and any decision it makes. I think this option ought to have a lot of consideration.
The link to the PC is here:
http://peoplescongress.org/
The means to establish a new institution for our own governance is here:
http://peoplescongress.org/2011/10/introducing-idea-people%E2%80%99s-convention/
The Peoples Congress is a way to structure a larger coalition of movements and organizations. We will need something like that to really make this a broad based populist movement. If can be held in the open, on the Mall, and is not that burdened down with all kinds of legal bs. It’s juts WE the People getting together to demonstrate our ability to govern and our knowledge of the solutions.
)
Hope it helps.
Would love to talk with you as well. John 510-381-3863
CCUPY needs to distance itself for those groups causing trouble that are diminishing its effort and cause. It needs to focus on changing the current political system this election cycle. A good video to watch:

I am amazed and awed by the level of “smarts” and capability of the OWS movement.
I have listened to speakers online at the OWS location in Zucotti and surrounding parks. I really think Nader is onto something…he has been living these ideas for a long long time. He believes Washington exists in a bubble…and is hardly affected by this, tending to business as usual. Nader believes in occupying lawmakers in every state and asking hard questions, making demands and making them sweat reelection.
They fear being voted out of office; that is one kind of strategy needed because the 99% can refuse to be governed by the ruling elite. These elitist governors and mayors also need to be OCCUPIED since they occupy themselves with the concerns of the 1% instead of the 99% they are supposed to represent.
A large number of youth took Obama over the top to the Presidency- we need to get in between our lawmakers and the monied power brokers.

How do we understand the enormous gaps that exist in society from investment banks generating gargantuan profits for themselves without any regard for social propriety i.e., a strong, healthy economy, to political parties out to destroy one another rather than finding solutions to social ills.
The detachment of certain financial institutions from the real world is, like any other insular institutional behavior, due to a primitive tribal mentality that we are all still subject to. Conservative and liberal political parties, for instance, behave toward one another as tribal enemies. Each seeks the destruction of the other. The whole society they are supposed to serve and represent is merely seen as their battleground. They view the world outside them as either for or against them and it is only their survival that matters.
If I am part of an investment bank I belong to a tribe whose culture is all about self-interested profiteering and that would represent the real world to me because I am also pursuing my own self-interest, that is, making as much money as I can. And within the tribe it all makes sense. And, after all, isn’t that what the real world is all about – making money? So, it all seems perfectly justified.
We all operate from self-interest. I have a self-interest in changing things. Changing things for the better. So, I see my self-interest benefitting society as a whole. And that is the crux of the whole enchilada – how do we benefit, or at least not harm, society as a whole while operating out of self-interest as we are wont to do?
Getting down to naked reality we see that every social system that ever was and ever will be is formed from one fundamental dynamic, and that is, self-interest/collective-interest.
In the natural realm the organizing factor for the formation of primitive groups was individual self-interest. That is all that primitives had to guide them. The ultimate self-interest is survival or self-preservation and in order to survive in the wild one had to belong to a group. Survival on one’s own was not a viable option. So, individual self-interest formed cohesive coherent collectives that provided the best prospect for survival for all of its members. Collective-interest, then, was served by self-interest and vice versa.
This basic dynamic is also evident in today’s societies where one’s self-interest in survival is still fostered through collectives. Money is the way to survive and so it is in one’s self-interest to make money. One does this by getting a job. That is, one becomes part of a collective called a business and contributes to the survival or profitability of that collective and is rewarded with a paycheck satisfying one’s self-interest.
The synergy between self and collective-interest is not, however, as palpably evident in civilized settings as it is in primitive ones and we can and do lose sight of that crucial dynamic. We have separate ideologies that favor and promote the one or the other. Capitalism is in the self-interest camp and socialism is all about the collective. And the reason neither can serve as a stand-alone operating system for a society is because they represent or over emphasize only one aspect of the social dynamic.
In losing sight of this dynamic one can come to believe that serving one’s self-interest is all that matters. Like those employed by an investment banking firm and are immersed in a culture of self-serving profiteering.
On the other hand an emphasis on living for the collective can squash individual initiative and become an obstacle to economic vigor.
The basic social dynamic, self-interest/collective-interest, must be ever in our sights and all of our institutions must seek to establish and maintain the necessary synergy that dynamic requires. This can only be accomplished in a social system that is generated and managed more from the microcosm. The microcosm forms the macrocosm.
The world cannot be managed on a global basis. Or even on a state or national basis, as we see.
Communities, however, can be managed within a global context.
Autonomous communities as centers of power that look inward to see how *they* can best organize and function and look outward along with other communities to create the organs they deem necessary to form a social system wherein every community, town, village, neighborhood can prosper.
So, the microcosm forms the macrocosm. That is how everything is formed, from the universe to life forms. Social systems should be no exception.
We can see social systems as information processing systems, which is what they have become by virtue of electronic/information age technologies. Such technologies would favor small discrete localities networking together to fashion a society that works for them.
I refer to the human body as a model for a social system. First of all they are both information processing systems and the body is formed from trillions of microscopic cells that might be comparable to localities in a social body constantly networking to manage a functioning system.
Now, a society needs to define the sole purpose of money as energizing the work that needs to be done for its health and well-being. This is comparable to blood in the body energizing the work that needs to be done for the health and well-being of the body. In the body blood is circulated to every cell providing the nutrients for work they do.
This is how money should be circulated in a social body. Localities would be where the money supply originates and from where it is distributed to the larger organs of their creation.
The banking system then would also be formed from local banks. It would be a banking system aligned to the economic system and its purpose would be to support a viable vigorous economy, thus creating plentiful jobs.
This is just a few threads of a whole tapestry. For a look at the whole picture

OWS Needs Direction! 10 Core Ideas All OWS Members Can Rally Around
1. A constitutional amendment reversing the Supreme Court’s bizarre rulings that under the First Amendment money is speech and corporations are people.
2. Real campaign finance reform with public financing of federal elections.
3. End gerrymandering by politicians and turn over redistricting to citizen committees.
4. Reduce financial risks to society by breaking up the biggest banks. Reenact Glass-Steagall. Abolish credit default swaps. Derivatives must be traded on transparent exchanges. Ban “flash” trading.
5. A ten-year federal program that creates over 30 million jobs rebuilding America that includes new infrastructure, a new national power grid and clean energy initiatives. Pay for it by taxing all Wall St. financial transactions at 1% raises $400 billion a year.
6. To create a living wage will require generous tax credits for low earners, a higher minimum wage, and guaranteed health care so that wages are not consumed by medical costs. Pay for it by ending the war in Afghanistan and reducing military spending.
7. Create a progressive federal tax code where the marginal tax rate is raised to 50 percent on income between $500,000 and $5 million, 60 percent on income between $5 million and $15 million, and 70 percent on income over $15 million. There should be a 2 percent annual surtax on all fortunes over $7 million. The estate tax should be 55 percent and kicks in after $5 million. Capital gains should be taxed at 35 percent. End the home mortgage deduction on first homes over $1 million. End the home mortgage deduction on all second homes. Corporations should be taxed by a variable amount based on the percentage of their payroll going to US workers. Eliminate corporate loopholes, unfair tax breaks, exemptions and deductions, subsidies, end offshore tax haven abuse.
8. Create better schools by properly compensating effective teachers. We should draw teachers from the top 10 percent of college graduates. Teachers should study education at government expense and receive strong professional support throughout their careers. Advocate universal prekindergarten, full-day kindergarten and extending the school day and school year.
9. Protect the environment by STRICTLY enforcing the Clean Air Act.
10. Enhance personal freedoms by repealing the Patriot Act.

FOCUS ON DEMANDING THE FED LEAVE THE USA FOREVER, AND TAKE THEIR DEBT WITH THEM!
If that statement makes no sense to you, then you’re completely failing the Occupy/Wall St protests.
The ‘Federal Reserve’ isn’t even part of the government.
It’s a private corporation, registered in Delaware as ‘non-profit or religious’.
At a secret meeting, they decided to call it the Federal Reserve to deceive the American people.
Its stockholders’ names are kept secret, except that we know that Chase Bank is the biggest U.S. stockholder, and therefore must be held accountable.
It’s controlled by the wealthiest family on earth, the Rothschilds. They’ve made their fortune by creating wars which they finance at great expense to the countries, and by banking.
They deliberately created the banking scam, Recession, homelessness crisis, foreclosure crisis, etc.
They have more power than all presidents and legislators put together because they control our nation’s economy.
Great men from Jefferson to JFK have warned us about them, but we ignored them all, and now we’re paying the price.
Our TOP PRIORITY must be to educate ourselves, then educate the American people, as fast as possible.
The ‘Fed’ doesn’t fear anything, except for millions of angry Americans who are ready to fight to take back their country. They can’t control that many people, and that’s what they’re after = power and control.
Don’t take my word for it, do the research provided free from people who have done the work to give us priceless information at
; http://www.legalparasites.net – links to the ‘Fed’
I had to see for myself, so I researched the State of Delaware, and found the following:

The Occupy Wall St. org website is under the control of Wall St. bankers. They’re black-listing people and posts that expose what Wall St. fears the most – the truth about the Fed.
I’ve tried to post the information you see above several times.
I’ve noticed another thing — that people are being encouraged to ignore the Federal Reserve danger, by focusing on every little complaint and change every single person wants to make.
This is a dangerous situation.
Protest saying, ‘End the Federal Reserve’ or ‘Federal Reserve = treason’, etc.
We have to spell it out for the public because they just don’t get it – and that includes the protesters themselves.

Some thoughts of what is wrong with the Economy
A large part of the economic troubles affecting the middle class in the United States and Europe are brought about by contemporary international trade. The theory is that we do what we do best and trade with others for what they do best. The problem is that a large part of what the third world does best are the areas that we also do best and they charge a lot less than us. We cannot compete effectively.
China turns out about eight times as many engineers as we do and they get paid about one sixth of what an American gets especially when you figure American pensions, unemployment payments, health care, social security payments, etc. The third world also pays less than we do for scientists, mechanics, cleaning people, clerks, etc. Hundreds of millions also speak English.
It is routine to do work in other countries and send down simple clerical work as well as computer programming, etc. through the Internet. The work costs a fraction of what it costs to do in the United States. People don’t know the difference. Many businesses think that it is better to do a lot of the work over seas. Even goods sent by freighter are low cost today.
Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Graholm said that when she was governor she was told that a factory in a town of 8,000 people was planning to move out of the state and it would devastate the town. She told the person who told her that not to worry. She would give them perks to keep the factory in the town.
Governor Graholm went to the town and spoke to the executives. She told them that if they stood in the town they would not have to pay any more Michigan taxes and they would get other perks. She was told that there was nothing that she could give them as they were moving to Mexico and would get labor for $1.50 an hour. She said that she was stunned. That is a sample of what is going on in our country today.
In addition to the low cost of oversees labor New York State Attorney General Spitzer investigated corruption in the financial industry after the 2001 stock market crash. He found E mails that he said conclusively proved corruption. The Attorney General did not sue the perpetrators as the industry pays billions of dollars in City and State taxes and that would go lost as would tens of thousands of high paying jobs. He believed that the industry could not pay back the vast amount of money lost by investors. He warned them not to do wrong in the future. In 2008 there was another stock market crash because they violated the trust of the investors. There was also a recent scandal by some large banks regarding the Libor interest rates that effect a variety of lending from mortgages, credit cards, etc.
China increases its research and development budget about 20% a year though they still spend a lot less than we do for research. Since they earn less than we do their research does not necessarily have to be as good as ours. All Chinese PhD science graduates get good research jobs by Chinese standards. Many American biology and chemistry graduates work in jobs called post docs. They get about $12,00 an hour. Many have major student tuition debt at times totaling over $100,000, for their eight years in college. Some can’t get any serious jobs in research and must settle for menial jobs.
Thousands of Doctorial graduates have to wait until they are an average of 42 years old before they get National Institutes of Health(NIH) grants. The NIH is the major medical research arm of the Federal Government. Some get them for about four years and when they expire they are not renewed. They are unable to carry on with their research. That is because the NIH is under funded. it’s budget is pretty much frozen which means a 3% yearly cut after inflation from an already anemic budget. In reality it is a about a $900,000,000 yearly cut. Only 20% of the grants are funded. These affect researchers from some of the most prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, MIT, Stanford University, The Sloan Kettering Institute, etc.
It costs about $8700 on average to pay for an average Americans health bill. That is about $30,700 for a family of four. According to the Congressional Budget Office medical costs will go up to 25% of the Gross Domestic Product by 2025. That will bring the cost of medical care up to $50,000 for a family of four. (With the growth of the economy the cost will be even more than $50,000 for a family of four). Medical research can help bring down the cost of health care by finding cures and better treatments. We are now learning how to treat the genetic aspects of illnesses which we were never able to do before.
Americans used to keep their money banks and usually got between 3% and 6% interest. Now the interest rate is often between .3% to .4%. If somebody has $100,000 in the bank today they get $300 to $400 dollars a year. Before the recession $100,000 deposit earned between $3,000 and $6,000 a year in interest. Depositors had more expendable income from their deposits.
The Internet and automation is also responsible for unemployment and lower pay. The Post office used to have about 900,000 employees. It now has about 500,000 workers and the Post Office wants to lay off another 100,000 workers. That is because of the Internet where people send E mails instead of letters and better work saving machinery. This type of problem is affecting businesses throughout the United States.
International trade with the third world, financial corruption, the high cost of health care, and the low interest rate brought about the weak economy in order to stimulate the economy is responsible for the poor performance of the United States and European economies. The fact that a business can threaten to move part or all of its business over seas is enough to stop large salary increases.
Even a stimulus program won’t solve the problem in the long range. An increase in taxes to the wealthy and giving the money to the lower earners would help a little as they would spend the money and stimulate the economy but it wouldn’t completely solve the problem. We must rethink the international trade situation with the third world and greatly increase our scientific and technological research and development to make us more productive. We must also stimulate worker training to make us more productive. The fact that interest rates are very low and we have unemployed workers means that we have room to grow with low inflation. In fact we can shrink the deficit with growth
